In-Home Aid

The In-Home Aide Services Program is a vital community program provided by Davidson County Department of Senior Services; that is designed to help older adults meet their goal of remaining in the home setting as long as their health and well-being permit.

In-Home Aide Services can provide assistance to individuals needing assistance with daily activities like bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, meal preparation, essential transportation, and other routine tasks. The program also offers limited respite care to provide needed relief to primary caregivers of someone requiring 24-hour care.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the In-Home Services Program, individuals must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Resident of Davidson County
  • At least 60 years of age
  • Live at home
  • Unable to perform one or more activities of daily living due to a functional, physical, or mental impairment and require help in order to remain in their own home.
  • A responsible person is not available to perform the needed assistance.

Due to limited funding and waiting lists, In-Home Aide Services gives the consumer options for receiving this service.

Private Pay

Consumers may elect to pay for their In-Home Aide Services using the private pay option. This option allows the consumer to by-pass the wait list and begin receiving services usually within 7 to 10 business days.

Grant Assistance

Consumers who elect not to participate in the private pay option may request assistance from the Home and Community Care Block Grant option. However, to be eligible, you must need help with personal care tasks such as bathing.

This option is available to qualified consumers at a cost that is consistent with what they can afford. Statements are mailed out monthly and consumers are encouraged to contribute toward the cost of the service that they have received. A self-addressed envelope will be enclosed with the statement for the consumer to mail in a contribution if able. No one is ever turned away due to the inability to pay; however, contributions are needed for program maintenance due to limited funding.
