The Davidson County Board of Commissioners has approved the launching of two grant/assistance programs utilizing CARES Act funds. The first is the Non-Profit and Business PPE Grant Program. This grant, open to organizations throughout Davidson County, is designed for public health and safety compliance related to NC Executive Orders for reopening. Organizations may apply for up to $5,000 for assistance in purchasing PPEs, such as sanitizer, masks, face shields, gloves, protective barriers, social distancing signage, disinfectants, sanitizer stations/dispensers and other approved supplies. Applicants will be required to provide: a valid NC driver’s license or government issued ID card; a “Certificate of Good Standing” from the Secretary of State; proof that County taxes have been paid; a recent W 9; proof of not being debarred from Federal, State and local contracts; and that the organization has operated for at least three (3) months in Davidson County. The grants will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. The application period will run from September 9, 2020 to December 1, 2020. This is a reimbursement grant for PPE purchases made after March 1, 2020, and for future PPE purchases made post grant award with final reimbursement request due on December 10, 2020. The second is the Emergency Assistance Program through the Department of Social Services for up to $500 per household for emergency assistance for rent/mortgage payments, utility assistance, emergency food assistance and essential prescription assistance. Applicants must be County residents and show two proofs of residency; must be able to show the impact of COVID-19, such as a loss or reduction in earnings since March 16, 2020; and, must have a current household monthly income at or below 250% of the Federal poverty level (household of 1 = $31,900). The grants will be awarded on a first come, first served basis, and the Application period will run from July 1, 2020 to October 31, 2020.
