Commissioner Steve Shell family settled in Davidson County in the Friedberg Community, from Germany, in 1752.

Commissioner Shell has two sons and four grandchildren and is married to Linda Craver Shell. He attended DDCC and Forsyth Tech upon graduating from high school where he then went through special career training from instructors from US Department of Justice and the US Secret Service. Commissioner Shell has completed Basic Law Enforcement training, continuing education as approved by the NC Department of Insurance and the Private Protective Services of NC.

He has proudly served with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department, is past president of Shell Driving School Inc., current President of A1A Company and East Coast Sureties. Commissioner Shell is a founding father of the North Carolina Bail Agents Association where he served on the governing board for many years.  He has been a licensed Private Investigator and licensed Counter Intelligence Agent since 1980 but has since retired.

Commissioner Shell represents the Davidson County Board of Commissioners on the following Boards and Commissions:

DavidsonWorks Board, Senior Services Advisory Board, County Sewer Committee, I-85 Corporate Center Committee, Yadkin River Park Committee, LEPC Board, New Jail Committee and the Facilities Committee.

Commissioner Shell has served as a Commissioner since 2014. He believes in and loves the people of Davidson County and supports the US Constitution. Chairman Shell is a proud Christian who believes that all the good happenings in his life are due to the Blessings of almighty God. To Him be the Glory!
