2022 Agricultural & Conservation Farm Tour

Our Annual Conservation Farm Tour was held jointly with the Davidson Soil & Water Conservation District, the USDA-NRCS, and the Cooperative Extension Service. Approximately 40 attendees traveled with us to farms within the County to view and learn about the latest agricultural innovations and farming practices. Participants included NC Senator Steve Jarvis; Sam Shumate, Representative for Congressman Ted Budd; Personnel from the Farm Service Agency, Carolina Farm Credit, Davidson County Farm Bureau, along with local farmers and citizens from across the County.

This year’s tour was held on August 30th and began at 2F Farms to learn about Precision Crop Protection from Frank Small. Our next stop was Denton Farm Park to see Reid Tramping Barn. We visited Loflin’s Angus Farm to learn about Lyle Loflin’s beef cattle and poultry operation. Our next stop was at Seven Sisters Farm and Michael Fine discussed their produce production and marketing operation. Our delicious lunch was at Southern Theater and Event Center and provided by Rick’s Restaurant. After lunch we traveled to JT Russell/Eco-Energy for a demonstration and discussion on their Ethanol Logistics and Distribution Center. The tour served as an opportunity for our citizens and farmers to see agriculture in different parts of the County on various soil and site conditions.

We extend a very special thank you to all of the farm participants for allowing us the opportunity to visit their sites and view their agricultural innovations and farming practices. We are also extending a very special thank you to our sponsors Carolina Farm Credit and Davidson County Farm Bureau for their financial support in making this tour possible.
