2022 Resource Conservation Workshop

A Resource Conservation Workshop was held this summer on the Campus of NC State University in Raleigh. The event is a week of intensive study focusing on the management of natural resources and requires students' participation in a wide range of conservation topics.

Our District sponsored 3 students to attend the Resource Conservation Workshop which was held on June 26 – July 1st. Gabrielle Soto-Allison is a rising junior at West Davidson High School, Molly Sidden is a rising junior at Yadkin Valley Career Academy, and Christian Barrett is a rising junior at North Davidson High School.

The RCW is a weeklong workshop held on the campus of NC State University and focuses on the management of natural resources. Students from across the State are housed in the dormitories on campus. It is sponsored by the NC Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts in conjunction with the NC Division of Soil and Water Conservation, NC State University Crop and Soil Science Department, and the Soil and Water Conservation Society High Hammond Bennett Chapter. Students have the opportunity to win cash awards and scholarships.

The students received guidance from natural resource professionals to learn about soil characteristics, soil conservation, wildlife, fisheries management, forest management, air quality, water quality, watershed management, and non-agricultural uses for soils.

Congratulations to these students for a successful week!
